RAWALPINDI: Police are reported to have taken two suspects in the murder of National Assembly Digital Media Executive Hina Javed to Lahore for DNA testing.
According to media reports, a police team travelled to Lahore under tight security with Hina’s husband, Faisal Asghar Imam, and her domestic worker, Zeeshan. Investigators also plan to conduct polygraph tests on both suspects.
Police collected Hina’s DNA samples during her post-mortem. Officials will take the accused back to Rawalpindi after completing the tests, sources said.
Hina Javed murder investigation
The investigation focuses on the circumstances surrounding Hina’s death at Askari Apartments. Her body was found tied with a wire to a bathroom shower after police received a report that thieves had entered the house.
The victim’s father-in-law informed police about the alleged break-in. Officers later recovered Hina’s body from the bathroom. Authorities are examining whether the burglary claim formed part of an attempt to mislead investigators.
According to sources, Hina Javed’s domestic worker Zeeshan gave investigators multiple accounts. In his latest alleged statement, Zeeshan said Faisal called him during a quarrel with Hina.
Zeeshan allegedly told police that Hina tried to escape during the dispute. He said he caught her when she resisted and strangled her. He also allegedly admitted tying her body to the bathroom shower with a wire.
Police are checking the statement against forensic evidence, witness accounts and the accused’s previous versions. Investigators are also examining allegations that Zeeshan stole Hina’s wallet and money kept at the house.
Hina Javed post-mortem findings
The initial post-mortem report recorded signs of torture and a broken neck. However, forensic testing will help investigators establish the exact cause and manner of death.
Police have formally arrested Faisal and Zeeshan. Both suspects remain on physical remand. Authorities are also questioning Hina’s father-in-law, Asghar Imam, but have not arrested him so far.
Rawalpindi Regional Police Officer Barrister Sarfraz Alpa said a special investigation team would examine every aspect of the case. SSP Investigation Saifullah heads the team.
The DNA test and polygraph examination may provide further evidence, but investigators must corroborate all statements before drawing conclusions.
