RAWALPINDI: The Hina Javed murder case investigation has gained new evidence after a post-mortem report recorded multiple injuries and blood around the victim’s heart, police said.

The 45-year-old woman was found dead in the Lal Kurti area. Police recovered her body from a bathroom at Askari Apartments. The case was registered at the Civil Lines police station on the complaint of her brother, Fahad Javed.

Hina Javed murder case post-mortem findings

According to the post-mortem report, Dr Maria Khalid examined Hina’s body about 12 hours after her death. The report noted a fracture or break in the neck, along with injury marks on the ribs and hip bone.

It also stated that the pericardium, the membrane surrounding the heart, contained blood. Doctors collected DNA samples from the body and sent them to a forensic laboratory for analysis.

The report did not initially establish a definitive cause of death. Police sent additional samples for forensic examination to determine whether Hina died from strangulation, hanging or another form of trauma.

Lady Constable Rafia Tabassum received the post-mortem report and the samples collected for forensic testing, according to the information provided.

Police arrest husband, domestic worker

Police arrested Hina’s husband, Faisal Asghar, and domestic worker Zeeshan in connection with the case. A court granted investigators three days of physical remand for questioning and evidence collection.

The initial information supplied by police to the doctor stated that Hina’s husband had hanged her. However, the Hina Javed post mortem report has left the final cause of death pending until forensic results become available.

Earlier, investigators said Zeeshan gave three different accounts. He initially alleged that he and Faisal planned the killing. He later claimed that he acted alone, before giving a third account in which he said Faisal called him during a domestic dispute.

The family has alleged previous domestic violence and demanded that every suspected participant, including Hina’s father-in-law, face investigation. Friends and relatives also appealed for justice on social media under #JusticeForHinaJaved.

It is pertinent to mention here that the husband of deceased, Faisal Asghar, remains under investigation. The post-mortem findings are preliminary, and the forensic report and court proceedings will help establish responsibility.
