Angelina Jolie has finalized her eight-year divorce from Brad Pitt, securing an $80 million settlement, though their legal dispute over the French estate, Chateau Miraval, remains unresolved. Despite ending their marriage, the couple’s ongoing issues persist.
The pair, who share six children, had a prenuptial agreement outlining the division of their assets. Jolie’s earnings included $11.5 million from the sale of a Winston Churchill painting given to her by Pitt, as well as $64 million from selling her stake in Chateau Miraval. Brad, with a net worth of $400 million, loaned Jolie $8 million in 2017 to purchase a Los Angeles mansion where she lives with their children.
In a recent interview with W Magazine, Angelina Jolie shared that acting became increasingly difficult for her after the death of her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, during the divorce proceedings with Pitt.
She reflected on how her late mother encouraged her to pursue acting professionally, though she initially began acting to fulfill Bertrand’s dream.
Jolie revealed, “I did it in the beginning because it was my mother’s dream, but by the time my mom was 25, she was divorced with two kids and chose to focus her life on motherhood.” Bertrand passed away from breast cancer in early 2007.
