Health workers demand restoration of health risk allowance

KARACHI: Health workers, working in public hospitals, on Tuesday staged a protest for the restoration of health risk allowances in front of Najam-ud-din Auditorium Jinnah Hospital.

According to details, Young Doctors Association, Young Nurses Association, Pakistan Paramedical, People’s Paramedical and Health Support Staff leaders Dr. Kaleem Khoso, Syed Shahid Iqbal, Sahar Naz, Hafiz Mohammad, Younis Mughal, Hasan Pathan, Amir Dinari, Javed Pathan, Izhar Siddiqui, Mohammad Ismail Jeskani, Sajid Mughal, Sahib Khan Gadhi, Haq Nawaz Sial, Mohammad Sarfraz, Samad Baloch, Abdul Fattah Solangi, Adnan Ahmad Khodabakhsh led the protest organized by the Employees Action committee of Jinnah Hospital organized.

Hundreds of health care workers joined the demonstration, holding banners and placards with the slogans for restoration of health risk allowance. The protest was held during the visit of Health Minister and Health Secretary who came to inaugurate a Gynecological ward in Jinnah hospital.

Speaking on occasion, the warned to continue the protest till their demands were met. They also repeated their demands of time scale and service structure. The authorities are constantly ignoring our protest, they said, warning that the scope of the protest will be widened if their dues are not settled.

Addressing the demonstration, Sajid Mughal, Amir Ali Dinari, Yunus Mughal and Dr. Kalim Khoso termed that the cutting of the health risk allowance as an economic murder, which cannot be accepted by anyone.

The leaders gave two-day ultimatum to the Sindh government to withdraw the notification of cutting health risk allowance.
