Pakistani top actress Hania Aamir has spoken out in a candid video message, opening up about her emotional and mental exhaustion as ongoing online backlash and criticism.
In the video, Hania revealed that she had taken time off after feeling overwhelmed by constant negativity surrounding her. She shared that the pressure made her question herself, her work, and whether she needed to “reinvent” her public image.
However, she eventually realized that the criticism was less about her actions and more about how society reacts to confident and happy women.
Hania expressed that she often feels “people hate happy women,” adding that both men and women contribute to online negativity.
She pointed out that women, in particular, are frequently judged and compared over appearance, behavior, and lifestyle, saying that the same culture of judgment has simply shifted from households to social media platforms.
She further highlighted how online discourse often pits women against each other through comparisons, criticism, and unrealistic expectations.
According to her, even harmless situations are turned into debates, where public figures are unnecessarily dragged into controversies simply for existing or being visible.
The actress also reflected on how male public figures are rarely subjected to the same level of comparison or criticism for similar actions, questioning why women continue to face harsher judgment in entertainment and digital spaces.
She urged audiences to reflect on why happiness and confidence in women often trigger backlash.
