Hajj 2027: Govt issues passport warning ahead of August 17 applications

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has issued important instructions for Pakistanis planning to perform Hajj in 2027, saying that applicants must have a Pakistani passport valid until November 16, 2027, to submit a Hajj application. The application process under both the government and private Hajj schemes will begin on August 17.

According to local media reports citing sources in the Ministry of Religious Affairs, pilgrims whose passports expire before the required date have been advised to renew them immediately. Failure to do so could prevent them from completing their Hajj 2027 applications.

Reports said passport offices have been directed, at the ministry’s request, to provide priority services to Hajj applicants.

Both passport offices across Pakistan and Pakistani passport offices abroad have been instructed to take immediate steps to facilitate prospective pilgrims.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has urged applicants to check their passport validity before submitting their Hajj applications.

Those whose passports expire before November 16, 2027, have been advised to renew them in time to avoid difficulties during the application process.

Officials said coordination among all relevant institutions is continuing as preparations for the Hajj operation get underway, while administrative measures are also being taken to facilitate pilgrims.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has announced the estimated cost of the Hajj package for 2027. Under the government Hajj scheme, pilgrims are expected to pay around Rs1.3 million to perform Hajj next year.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf announced details of the Hajj package at a press conference on Monday.

He said payments from pilgrims would begin on August 17, while the entire Hajj application process would be completed through a digital system.

The announcement comes after the Government of Pakistan approved registration for Hajj 2027 on June 22, allowing preparations for the initial phase of the Hajj operation to begin on schedule.

The Government of Pakistan is expected to launch applications for the Government Hajj Scheme 2027 in the coming days, with an official announcement of the Hajj policy anticipated shortly.
