LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to close seven more areas in Punjab capital to prevent further spread of the coronavirus, which has been declared a global epidemic.
A smart lockdown has already been carried out in several areas of Lahore. The provincial home department has also issued a formal notification in this regard.
According to the notification issued by the provincial government, all the blocks of Gulberg, Model Town, Faisal Town, and Garden Town will remain closed.
According to the sources, under the notification, Johar Town will not be completely closed and only those areas that are already closed will remain closed.
The notification issued by the provincial home department on the direction of the Punjab government said that journalists, doctors, and paramedics would be allowed to pass through the closed areas.
The government officials, lawyers, pharmacy staff, and grocery staff have also been allowed to visit areas closed in Lahore due to the coronavirus.
It is to be noted that several areas in Lahore already remain under lockdown enforced on 20th June for two weeks. The areas include: Ravi Town till Begum Court, 12 Darri roads, Ravi Clifton, Shahdarah, Hanif Park and Badami Bagh, Malik Park, Saeed Mitha Bazar, Samanabad Town till Sutlej, Jehanzeb, Ravi, Kashmir, Nargis, Huma, and Rachna blocks will all undergo a two-week lockdown.
