ISLAMABAD: The government has demanded a Boeing 777 aircraft from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Saudi Arabia.
The Foreign Ministry has requested Boeing 777 from the national airline for the prime minister’s entourage on his first official visit abroad. The minister has written a letter PIA CEO to keep the aircraft on standby.
The request suggest that the prime minister is planning to take a large entourage for his official visit. The previous government of Prime Minister Imran Khan had never requested PIA aircraft for foreign tours and instead relied on small delegation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia on April 27. He will perform Umrah during his visit and also hold meetings with the Saudi leadership.
JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Maryam Nawaz will also be part of the delegation. Ahead of the visit, the names of Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and other personalities were removed from the Exit Control List to allow them to travel abroad.
