Khalid Jawed Khan's statement comes as PTI govt drags feet in NA session

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has appointed Khalid Jawed Khan as the new Attorney General.
The Ministry of Law has issued a notification in this regard. The appointment of Khalid Jawed Khan as the new Attorney General was approved by Prime Minister Imran Khan yesterday.
Khan earlier served as the legal advisor to the Attorney General during the second tenure of late Benazir Bhutto. He got his law degree from London University with other law-related degrees from Oxford University and Harvard University.
He has replaced outgoing Attorney General Anwar Mansoor who resigned from his post. He submitted his resignation to President Arif Alvi in which he stated that the Pakistan Bar Council had asked him to quit.
His resignation letter added, “I hereby resign from the position of the Attorney-General for Pakistan and request you to accept it with immediate effect.”
Earlier, speaking in an interview, Anwar Mansoor claimed that that the government was not included in his decision to quit. No one from the government spoke to me then how come anyone could force him to quit, he added.
He further highlighted his decision to resign that he had to resign as the objection was raised by the Pakistan Bar Council.
