ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Climate Change Ms Zartaj Gul has promised to work according to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision of clean green Pakistan.
“Prime Minister’s vision is our promise. We should make Pakistan plastic-free by giving up the use of plastic bags in our life,” she said.
The state minister was addressing a clean green advocacy campaign launched by Hashooo Foundation and Oxfam in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to raise awareness about the importance of eco-friendly bags.
A flash mob was performed by a group of young environment champions at the event to showcase the role that citizens can play in ensuring a positive shift in shopping practices which was widely appreciated by the public.
Zartaj Gul appreciated the role Hashoo Foundation is playing in supporting women entrepreneurship and empowerment. Country Director of Hashoo Foundation Ayesha khan thanked the minister and Oxfam for their support.
Director-General EPA Farzana Altaf also emphasised the public for using eco-friendly cloth bags at a stall made by ten semi-skilled women trained by Hashoo Foundation with Oxfam’s support.
Country Director of Oxfam in Pakistan Mr Mohammaed Qazilbash also attended the event.
