KARACHI: Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lieutenant General Mohammad Afzal called on Governor Sindh Imran Ismail in Karachi.
During the meeting, issues related to the drainage of rainwater and cleanliness work in Karachi came under discussion.
Sindh Governor said that the federal government will not leave the people of Karachi alone in this difficult situation, and will once again turn Karachi into the city of lights.
The federal government in collaboration with the NDMA and the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) will drain out the rainwater and ensure cleanliness in the metropolis, he added.
The NDMA is visiting Karachi on the directive of Prime Minister Imran Khan who said has asked Pakistan Army to extend help in cleaning rain-hit Karachi. The prime minister had also directed NDMA Chairman to reach Karachi immediately and oversee the cleanliness drive.
“I have asked the Pak army to also help in cleaning up the city,” he said on Twitter, while earlier stating that he had asked NDMA Chairman to visit Karachi immediately and start the clean-up in the aftermath of the rain.
