Govt decides to remove Pervaiz Elahi as Speaker Punjab Assembly

ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to remove Speaker of Punjab Assembly Pervaiz Elahi from his post.
According to sources, a consultative meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz Sharif at the party secretariat in Model Town in which the presentation of the budget was discussed while legal experts were also consulted on the possibility of blocking the budget by the opposition.
It was decided in the meeting that IG Punjab and Chief Secretary would not be presented in the assembly even today. The League ministers said that they wanted to disgrace the Chief Secretary and the IG by calling them.
It was decided in the meeting that Pervaiz Elahi should be removed and after winning the by-election on July 17 and fulfilling the required MPAs, the speaker should be sent home and a new speaker should be brought.
Meanwhile, the opposition has also insisted on presenting the IG and Chief Secretary Punjab in the House and apologizing.
The situation is complicated because if the budget is not passed within the stipulated time, it will be difficult for the government to run the affairs in the next financial year.
Earlier, the Punjab government had formulated a budget approval strategy instead of a no-confidence motion against Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, which seems to have failed.
