Google.org has announced to donate US$500,000K (110 million PKR) to Pakistan’s flood-hit populace as the country is going through one for the worst calamities it has ever faced.
Google Southeast Asia Vice President Stephanie Davis posted on LinkedIn that the tech giant would donate the amount through its philanthropic arm to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, which will be made to the sub-grants to the local organizations that are actively engaged in crisis response and recovery. In addition to this, Google employees are also donating at this critical time. In just a few days, employees have already contributed more than PKR 72 million in personal donations.
“Our hearts go out to each and every one impacted by the ongoing floods in Pakistan. Even when faced with the fear of having their homes washed away and vital farmland destroyed, we have also witnessed Pakistanis and communities coming together to help each other. We are inspired by their bravery, and we want to help,” Davis wrote in the post.
She added that the company would find more ways to help Pakistan through its tools and resources.
Google aims to extend its support by taking initiative to gather donations and funds for flood affectees to help fellow citizens spending their lives in the midst of destruction. Google will continue to find more ways to help the flood victims.
