Tensions between Iran and Israel have apparently come to a possible end, with a ceasefire between the two countries. A report has emerged detailing how the ceasefire was achieved and how the matter reached its final stages.
According to the details, U.S. President Donald Trump and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, played a key role in facilitating the ceasefire process. The American media has also confirmed Qatar’s involvement.
A report states that a senior White House official stated that U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and President Trump’s Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, held direct and indirect talks with Iranian officials.
The White House official said that prior to this, Israeli officials had also been contacted, and Israel agreed that if Iran did not carry out further attacks, it would be willing to enter into a ceasefire. The report stated that upon being contacted, Iran indicated to the U.S. that it would not conduct further attacks.
President Trump said on the announcement of the ceasefire that it is a great day for the world. The ceasefire is indefinite, and he hopes it will last forever. President Trump had a phone call with Netanyahu yesterday afternoon and mediated the ceasefire agreement.
The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, contacted Iranian officials by phone and secured their consent for the U.S.-proposed ceasefire, according to the report.
A Reuters report states citing sources, that before the phone call to Iran, U.S. President Donald Trump had spoken with the Emir of Qatar and informed him that Israel had agreed to the ceasefire. Trump requested the Emir of Qatar to persuade Iran to accept the proposal as well.
