Karachi: President SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and Chairman of United Business Group (UBG) in Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FPCCI) Iftikhar Ali Malik said on Thursday that it was the need of the hour to give full priority to the stability and progress of national economy instead of given importance to the ongoing political tension and turmoil in the country.
He further said that the rulers and all politicians should jointly adopt a strategy to deal with challenges faced by the national economy. The business community has always been supporting the rulers in the great interest of the country. This time too, Pakistan is passing through a tough economic situation that can be countered only with joint efforts.
In a telephonic conversation with President UGB Zubair Tufail, he said the UGB, under the leadership of Tufail, has been giving positive suggestions to the government and it would keep playing a role for the stability of the country in the future too.
Malik said that this time the whole world is facing a high ratio of inflation and Pakistan has also been hit by a hike in prices. “Today every country is giving top priority to its economy, while international alliances and blocks are formed on the base of the economy, so we also need to improve our economy to become a great nation,” he added.
He said that we need to learn a lot from the Russia-Ukraine war, the wars in Afghanistan, and from the competition between USA and China. Countries have to do much for their existence and defense, he added.
Malik said that Pakistan will have to pave way for trading with others countries. For this purpose sovereign policies and implementation of an honest system in the country are needed.
Tufail said that though Prime Minister Imran Khan has reduced petroleum prices by Rs.10, still the inflation rate is very high and the masses facing severe difficulties. He added that the ongoing political tension in the country is also destabilizing business activities.
