Ghee and cooking oil manufacturers in Pakistan have increased the prices of both commodities by up to Rs 20 per kg even before the implementation of the new fiscal year budget.
According to media reports, companies in Pakistan have increased the prices of ghee and cooking oil by Rs10 to Rs20 per kilogram on their own.
Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (PVMA) General Secretary Farid Qureshi stated that some companies had increased the prices of ghee and cooking oil before the passage and implementation of the Federal Budget 2025-26.
As per the new prices, one kilogram pouch of oil and ghee is being sold at Rs 560 and Rs 570 instead of the previous price of Rs 550.
It should be noted that in Pakistan, there is no effective price control system, so the profiteers increase the rates on their own.
Recently, the federal government has increased the prices of petroleum products after imposing more taxes on them in the new budget.
