GB takes effective measures to control coronavirus: CM

GILGIT BALTISTAN: Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman has said that the GB administration had taken solid measures and finalized arrangements, utilizing utmost available resources to battle coronavirus on emergency basis across the region.
Talking to media Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman said according to Lab reports three tests of coronavirus were declared positive in Gilgit-Baltistan and patients are under treatment.
CM said out of 1500, fourteen hundred and forty-one persons who reached in Gilgit-Baltistan from abroad were screened appropriately. He said health emergency has been declared in the region, while the health department’s officials have suggested extension for the closure of all educational institutions up to March 30.
The patient, a 31-year-old youth, a resident of Shigar district had a travel history of Iran. The patient was under treatment at the Skardu hospital, CM added. Another case, a 14-year-old also from Skardu had tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Hafiz further said Earlier, the first confirmed case in GB was of a woman, aged 45, who recently arrived in Gilgit from Iran before she was diagnosed.
Proper precautionary measures taken to combat the coronavirus in the region, he added. CM maintained that the patients are being provided with the best healthcare facilities in the isolation facility.
