Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has emphasised that comprehensive preparedness and effective coordination among all elements of national power are essential, noting that adversaries are increasingly adopting indirect and ambiguous tactics rather than direct confrontation, including exploiting internal vulnerabilities through proxies.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir visited the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad, where he was briefed by panels of civilian and military participants of the National Security and War Course on the challenges to national security and the requirements for addressing them.
The Field Marshal highlighted the complex and evolving global, regional, and internal security environment, stating that Pakistan faces diverse and persistent challenges spanning conventional and unconventional threats, intelligence, cyber, informational, military, economic, and other domains.
He underscored that addressing these challenges requires comprehensive preparedness and effective coordination across all elements of national power.
He further noted that adversaries are opting for indirect and ambiguous measures, including exploiting internal weaknesses through proxy actors.
Field Marshal Asim Munir stressed the importance of training future leaders in multidimensional and perceptive threat recognition, foresight, and timely mitigation. In uncertain situations, clear decision-making, intellectual resilience, and mental fortitude are indispensable qualities for effective leadership in today’s complex security environment.
He commended NDU’s role in preparing strategic thinkers, noting that the institution effectively translates rigorous professional training and scholarly insight into policy formulation and practical outcomes.
He stated that professional military education plays a central role in strengthening institutional capacity, developing indigenous capabilities, and ensuring long-term national stability.
Appreciating the panels’ in-depth analyses and findings, Field Marshal urged participants to remain vigilant and steadfast while upholding values of integrity, discipline, and selfless service.
Upon his arrival at NDU, the President of the National Defence University warmly welcomed the Chief of Defence Forces.
