KARACHI: Acting on a tip-off , Sir Syed Police came into action and nabbed 4 operatives of an 8-member street criminal gang from the metropolis.
Police officials said the suspects were idetified as Naveed, Sagar Abbasi, Asif and Raza Abbas, and 10 mobile phones, 4 pistols, 8 rounds, wallets and a bike were recovered from them.

Officials said the suspects were are residents of Qayyumabad and Sarjani town, and used to commit crimes on the route from Qayyumabad to Sarjani. During the initial investigation, the accused revealed that they used to rob people during traffic jam at Baloch Colony Bridge, Hasan Square Bridge, Liaquatabad Bridge, Nagan Chowrangi Bridge.
Police said this is a gang of 8 members, all hailing from Southern Punjab. The accused also disclosed that their 8-member bike-riding gang used to rob people sitting at tea stalls.
Officials said raids were underway to arrest accomplices of these suspects, and expressed hope that more suspects would be arrested soon.
The accused under arrest had an encounter with the Sir Syed police a week ago, after which they had managed to escape by shooting at the police, official said, adding that cases had been registered against the arrested accused and investigation had already begun.
