In yet another dumper accident in Karachi, a father and son lost their lives, and the mother was critically injured when a speeding dumper struck their motorcycle in Malir.
The incident took place near Malir Halt, where the heavy vehicle ran over the victims, killing two and leaving one severely wounded.
The deceased were identified as Saleem, a security guard, and his 13-year-old son, Afan. The injured woman, Rubina, was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. According to rescue officials, the dumper driver fled the scene following the crash.
The family, residents of Hijrat Colony, was returning from Khuda Ki Basti when the tragedy occurred. Saleem, employed as a security guard for a private company, was the father of six children from two wives. His son, Afan, was a second-grade student.
In a separate incident near Millennium Shopping Mall on Wednesday night, another speeding dumper collided with a motorcycle, killing three people, including a couple, and injuring two others.
So far this year, Karachi has recorded 71 fatalities and over 1,000 injuries due to traffic accidents, according to rescue agencies.
