According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the security forces conducted the operation in the area on the reported presence of terrorists. During the intense exchange of firing with the terrorist, four soldiers lost their lives.
The soldiers included: Havaldar Munawar, 40, resident of Bahawalnagar; Sepoy Zaka Ullah, 31, resident of Laki Marwat; Sepoy Farhan, 34, resident of Kohat; and Sepoy Sheraz, 30, resident of Abbottabad
Meanwhile, in another security operation in Tank, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, two terrorists were killed. They were identified as Shahzeb alias Zakir and Daniyal, the ISPR added in a separate statement.
“These terrorists were involved in multiple terror activities including attacks against security forces, targeted killings and kidnapping for ransom,” the ISPR statement said. It said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
Earlier on December 24, two soldiers were martyred when terrorists attacked a security forces check post in Balochistan’s Kech district. The ISPR had said a follow-up operation was in progress in the area to search for the terrorists when the attack took place.
