RAWALPINDI: Najaf Hameed, the brother of former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) director general Lt (retd) Gen. Faiz Hameed, was taken into custody on Monday in connection with a graft investigation, Express News reported.
Following the cancellation of his bail in a fraud case, efforts were undertaken by the Anti-Corruption agency to apprehend Najaf Hameed, the former Deputy Tehsildar of Chakwal, who had fled the scene. He was subsequently captured and brought before the Anti-Corruption Court, where his plea for pre-arrest bail was denied. He was then handed over to Anti-Corruption authorities for a two-day period.
Earlier, Najaf Hameed had sought pre-arrest bail from the Senior Sessions Judge. Notably, he had previously appeared before the Special Judge of the Anti-Corruption Court after being implicated in a land fraud case by the authorities in 2023. Despite securing pre-arrest bail to avoid detention, he was later arrested following the cancellation of his bail.
