The Pakistani rupee posted a marginal gain of 0.01% against the US dollar in the inter-bank market on Thursday.
According to closing data, the local currency settled at 278.62, registering an appreciation of Rs0.03 against the greenback. A day earlier, the rupee had closed at 278.65.
The slight recovery came amid fluctuations in global currency markets, where the US dollar strengthened due to higher US Treasury yields. Investors also continued to factor in expectations that the Federal Reserve may consider further interest rate hikes this year.
In broader international trade, the dollar remained largely stable, leaving the euro unchanged at $1.1714. The common currency was on track to decline about 0.6% for the week, marking its steepest weekly fall in two months.
