ISLAMABAD: A senior diplomat of the Indian High Commission in Pakistan has been sent a protest letter to the Foreign Office over serious violations of the ceasefire on the Line of Control by Indian forces.
According to a Foreign Office spokesman, Indian forces opened unprovoked fire on the Broha sector of the LoC yesterday, injuring two civilians.
So far this year, India has committed 2,340 ceasefire violations. This year, 18 innocent civilians have been martyred and 187 seriously injured in Indian provocations.
A Foreign Office spokesman has said that India’s deliberate targeting of innocent civilians is reprehensible. Indian forces are constantly targeting civilians on the Line of Control and Working Boundary.
India’s successive provocations are a threat to peace and security in the region and it cannot divert the world’s attention from the situation in occupied Kashmir.
Pakistan has demanded that India ensure compliance with UN Security Council resolutions and abide by the 2003 ceasefire arrangement. The Foreign Office spokesperson said that India’s targeting of unarmed civilians was against international law and values.
It may be recalled that the unprovoked firing of the Indian Army had taken place on the previous day as a result of which two young men of the Pakistan Army were martyred.
