Five dead after inhaling poisonous gas in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: At least five persons died after inhaling poisonous gas in a well in Rawat area near Rawalpindi.

According to details, a man went inside a well in Rawat to clean it but fell unconscious due the poisonous gas accumulated in the well. Seven other persons immediately went inside the well to rescue them, but they also fell unconscious.

Police and rescue teams reached the spot and retrieved five dead bodies from the well while three persons were rescued alive and were shifted to hospital. Rescue sources said that the deceased were identified as Zafar, Azhar, Ijaz, Ayan and Muhammad Siddique.

Earlier in June 2021, At least three people died while three others fainted after inhaling poisonous gas inside a well in Punjab’s Bahawalnagar.

According to the details, the people went inside a well for cleaning it in Chishtian area of Bahawalnagar. Poisonous gas had accumulated in the well. The people fell unconscious inside the well.
