Skywatchers around the world will have the opportunity to witness this spectacular celestial event, which promises to be larger and brighter than a typical full moon.
The full moon will reach its peak brightness at approximately 5:03 AM UTC on January 3, although observers in different parts of the world may see it clearly on the night of Friday, January 2, or Saturday evening, January 3.
This supermoon occurs when the moon is at its closest point to Earth (perigee), making it appear roughly 14% larger and 30% brighter than an average full moon.
Adding to the spectacle, the event coincides closely with Earth’s perihelion, its nearest point to the Sun, creating a rare astronomical alignment.

Astronomers note that 2026 will feature two more supermoons later in the year, on November 24 and December 24, offering additional opportunities for skywatchers to marvel at these stunning lunar events.
The Wolf Moon is a perfect occasion for stargazers and photographers alike to capture one of nature’s most striking nightly displays.
