There is a good news for the residents of Karachi that the federal government has decided to increase the electricity supply to Karachi to end the prolonged loads heading in the port city.
As per media reports, the Secretary Power Division told the Standing Committee meeting that the electricity provided to Karachi by the federation will increase by 700 MW.
He told the committee that the federation will provide 1600 MW of electricity to Karachi instead of 900. It should be noted that despite the intense heat in Karachi, unannounced load shedding by K-Electric has become a routine.
Meanwhile, the federal government could not provide complete relief to consumers in electricity bills as per announced by the prime minister.
As per media reports, consumers were given relief at the rate of Rs 5.80 per unit, while the pm had announced Rs 7.41 per unit relief.
It should be noted that due to expensive electricity and frequent load shedding in the country, people are opting to install solar panels to meet their electricity requirements and avoid the inflated bills.
