Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and Indian actress Vaani Kapoor’s Bollywood film “Abir Gulal” has cleared hurdles, and its release date has been announced.
According to Indian media, the film, starring Pakistani superstar Fawad Khan, will be released under a new title on August 29, 2025. Initially, “Aabeer Gulal” was scheduled for release on May 12, but it was postponed after a terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, at the end of April, in which several people were killed.
India accused Pakistan of involvement in the Pahalgam attack, an allegation Pakistan has repeatedly denied. Following the incident, India imposed bans on Pakistani artists and YouTube channels.
Since Fawad Khan played the lead role in “Abir Gulal,” the film was indefinitely banned.
Recently, The Times of India reported that the movie will now release on August 29 under the revised title “Aabeer Gulal.”
Industry experts believe that due to ongoing backlash against Pakistani artists, the film may not receive an official release in India. Instead, it will follow the release pattern of the Indian Punjabi film “Sardaar Ji 3″—launching globally but not within India.
“Sardaar Ji 3,” starring Diljit Dosanjh and Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, was not released in India due to Aamir’s presence but achieved remarkable success internationally.
