ISLAMABAD: The senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Fawad Chaudhry has said that had the advise of President Arif Alvi to dissolve assembly and go for fresh elections been accepted, the country wouldn’t have been in economic turmoil.

He was reacting to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s strongly worded written response to President’s March 24 letter in which he its content as “as of partisan in nature, one-sided and based upon anti-government views’ which were openly espoused by the latter notwithstanding the constitutional oath/office of the president.”

In his letter, President Arif Alvi had directed Shehbaz Sharif to hold elections and avoid contempt of court and avoid contempt of court, and to instruct the relevant administrative authorities of the federal and provincial governments to refrain from violating human rights.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, Fawad Chaudhry said President in his letter had had advised Shehbaz Sharif to follow the Constitution [ regarding elections in Punjab and KP], and obviously, they [rulers] would assume this advice as a press release of the PTI.

He further said that “the country would have been come out of constitutional, political and economic crisis had the act of dissolving the assembles and the process of new elections been implemented upon.”
