Karachi residents can now obtain their domicile certificates within two days, thanks to a newly launched digital system aimed at reducing delays and curbing corruption in the issuance process, according to local media reports on Thursday.
This digital transformation marks a groundbreaking shift in addressing longstanding challenges for students and citizens across Karachi.
Introduced at the Korangi Deputy Commissioner Office, this streamlined system allows citizens to acquire their domiciles for a fee of Rs660, a significant improvement over the previous process, which often took months and involved bribery.
At the inauguration of the Digital Domicile Desk, Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi emphasized the goal of simplifying the process and boosting efficiency. “We are also planning to implement door-to-door domicile delivery across all districts to further enhance public convenience,” Naqvi stated.
Korangi Deputy Commissioner Jawad Muzaffar said that the required documents have been reduced from 15 to 7, and a QR code has been added for instant verification, preventing the issuance of fake domiciles.
