Winter vacations for school students in Punjab officially ended on January 10, 2025, but rumors of an extension began circulating due to the ongoing cold weather.
A false notification, claiming that the holidays had been extended until January 18, 2025, caused confusion among parents and students, especially with reports spreading on WhatsApp and social media.
To clear up the confusion, Secretary of Education Khalid Nazir Watoo swiftly denied the rumors. He confirmed that the reports of extended holidays were completely fake and assured the public that schools would reopen as scheduled on January 13, 2025, Monday.
Watoo urged parents to disregard any information found on unofficial platforms and reminded them that the Education Department communicates all official updates only through its verified social media channels. He also advised parents and students to rely exclusively on the “School Education Department Punjab” page for accurate and timely information.
The clarification aims to prevent further spread of misinformation and ensure that families are well-informed.
