FAISALABAD: Faisalabad police during the last 24 hours arrested 70 people and 50 cases were registered across the city for flying kites in the city despite a ban.
Faisalabad SHO, Ali said the Faisalabad police had started a campaign against kite flying in the city, which treats human lives that take place due to the exercise of the activity.
He said several people sustained injuries or killed every year during the basant festival, added that despite the ban, residents were indulged in flying kites.
The police, however, conducted operations across the city to arrest people involved in flying kites. He said several police operations have been successful and police have confiscated more than 200,000 kites, said SHO.
It is worth mention here, In 2005, Pakistan’s Supreme Court imposed a ban on the manufacture, trade or even flying of kites.
The court said it was a precautionary measure to prevent the loss of lives since kite strings were sometimes laced with chemicals.
