KARACHI: Large parts of Karachi are enduring power cuts lasting more than 12 hours a day, as rising temperatures push up electricity demand and strain supply.
Reports gathered by MM News from multiple sources revealed that residents in several neighbourhoods — including Korangi, Surjani Town, Liaquatabad and Saddar — report a mix of scheduled and unannounced outages, leaving households without electricity for prolonged periods.
The worsening situation has added to the difficulties of citizens already coping with intensifying heat, with many struggling to carry out routine activities amid frequent disruptions.
Businesses, too, are feeling the impact, as extended outages interrupt operations and slow down commercial activity across affected areas.
A federal minister, while acknowledging public frustration, attributed the situation to temporary challenges and said efforts were underway to stabilise power supply in the city.
