Ghulam Rasool Unar has approached a Karachi sessions court claiming that his former wife had deceived him into a video-call marriage by using AI-generated and digitally altered photographs that allegedly concealed her true appearance.

Ghulam Rasool Unar has approached a Karachi sessions court claiming that his former wife had deceived him into a video-call marriage by using AI-generated and digitally altered photographs that allegedly concealed her true appearance.

The dispute involving former Sindh MPA and minister Ghulam Rasool Unar and his former wife has taken a new turn after the latter challenged allegations that she deceived him into marriage using AI-generated and digitally altered images.

The matter was heard by the Additional District and Sessions Judge South in Karachi on an application filed by Unar, who alleged that he had been deceived through AI-generated images that concealed his former wife’s actual appearance.

During the hearing, the former wife submitted objections to the application through her lawyer, Ghulam Farooq Abbasi Advocate. Unar’s counsel, Amir Nawaz Waraich, sought time to review the objections, following which the court adjourned further proceedings until August 29.

According to the former wife’s counsel, the allegations made in the application were based on distorted facts, rejecting the former minister’s claim that the two met via social media.

The lawyer told the court that Unar’s daughter and other women in his family were aware of the matter. He further claimed that before the marriage, Unar had agreed, through an affidavit signed in the presence of family members, to several conditions, including transferring a flat in his wife’s name, paying Rs500,000 per month, and providing 50 acres of land.

According to the counsel, Unar continued paying Rs100,000 per month as maintenance until May, but later expelled his wife from the house following disagreements.

The former wife’s lawyer further alleged that Unar filed a complaint with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) out of a personal grudge and that the matter remains pending. He urged the court to dismiss Unar’s application.

The lawyer also said the former wife had filed a claim in the Family Court in Hyderabad in July seeking recovery of money.

According to the former wife’s counsel, Unar was attempting to defame and harass his former wife and pressure her into abandoning her legal rights.

Unar had approached a Karachi sessions court claiming that his former wife had deceived him into a video-call marriage by using AI-generated and digitally altered photographs that allegedly concealed her true appearance.

He claimed that he discovered the alleged discrepancy after meeting her in person and divorced her on August 2, 2026. He subsequently alleged that he was subjected to blackmail and threats.

The allegations by both sides remain disputed, while the court is expected to hear the matter further on August 29.
