Engineer Ashkar Dawar appointed as DG SBCA

KARACHI: Engineer Ashkar Dawar has been appointed as Chairman Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) with immediate effect.
A notification has been issued in this regard by Services, General Administration and Coordination Department signed by Chief Secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah.
The notification states that Ashkar Dawar, currently serving as Additional Director (Special Technical Cadre BS-20) at SBCA has been appointed with immediate effect will further officers.
The incumbent DG SBCA Nasim-ul-Ghani Sahito, an officer of PSS BS-20, has been transferred as Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department and given an additional charge.
Ashkar Dawar has a good reputation within bureaucratic circles without any corruption allegations and is known to take a hardline against corrupt practices.
It must be noted DG Director Legal has declared DG SBCA Nasim-ul-Ghani’s appointment in violation of Supreme Court’s directives, which has ruled that a non-engineer may not be appointed to the position.
