The Punjab School Education Department has sent a proposal to the Chief Minister to start summer vacations from June 1 across the province in view of the expected heatwave. as re
According to reports, a summary in this regard has been sent to the Chief Minister of Punjab by the Education Department. Secretary of Education Khalid Nazir Wattoo stated that due to the possible severe heatwave, vacations may begin earlier; however, the final decision will be made by the Chief Minister.
It is worth mentioning that earlier this month, the Punjab government reduced school timings by 30 minutes due to rising temperatures. The new schedule came into effect on April 7 and will remain in place until October 15.
Schools now open at 7:30 AM, and dismissal times have also been adjusted for schools operating in single and double shifts.
Although school timings have been changed, a large number of parents are still expressing concern over sending their children to school in extreme heat and are urging the government to start summer vacations as soon as possible.
Teachers are also making the same demand. They say that the uncertainty in the vacation schedule is hindering academic planning and completion of the syllabus.
