Reality of economic crisis

It is a bitter truth that Pakistan is passing through the toughest economic situation of its history, and the rising inflation particularly the whopping hike in fuel prices is unbearable for a common person, but it is also an open reality that the current government is not responsible for this deteriorated situation.

Apart from what the reasons were, every sensible person knows that the country’s economic situation started worsening during the Imran Khan-led previous government and when the incumbent government took the reins of the country, the economy was on the verge of destruction, while political disability during the regime change period further damaged the already fragile economy, especially our currency slumped to a record low against US dollar.

On the other hand, International Monitory Fund (IMF) denied releasing a $ 1 billion tranche until Pakistan completely remove subsidies on fuel and this hard condition created a standstill in Pakistan’s engagement with IMF. The standstill started affecting the economy and as result, Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) and rupee suffered an extraordinary plunge, which compelled the government to follow the tough conditions and removed the subsidy on fuel prices.

Despite a fear of immense political loss, the PML-N government took hard decisions to save the country from defaulting and Sri Lanka-like situation. So know it is the responsibility of every patriotic person to understand the situation and restrain him from baseless criticism and protest which has no benefit for the country and the nation.

Particularly it is time for all political leaders to keep aside all their political differences and together start thinking for the future of the country and nation, and for a joint strategy to pull out the country from the worst economic crisis.

Though this is a difficult task, Pakistan, a nation of 220 million people, has the potential to overcome all its difficulties and problems and become an economic power in the world. A nation of 220 million people can do everything, even can make the impossible possible. The only thing required is a joint and sincere effort.
