The Sindh government has announced plans to introduce double-decker buses on Karachi’s roads this year and has already begun preparations for their procurement.
Speaking to the media in Karachi on Tuesday, Sindh Transport and Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon confirmed that the double-decker buses would be acquired in the current year and operate on Karachi’s Sharae Faisal.
“The Sindh government is working on transport projects across the province, and double-decker buses will be introduced on Sharae Faisal this year,” he said.
Memon also addressed concerns regarding the Red Line BRT project, clarifying that any delays were not caused by the provincial government’s actions but were due to the relocation of utilities.
He further announced that the inauguration of the Malir Expressway, to be conducted by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, would take place in two days, calling it a “gift from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for the residents of Karachi.”
The minister also revealed plans to invite a representative from KATI to the upcoming Yellow Line BRT board meeting and expressed the goal of completing the Jam Sadiq Bridge work within eight months.
