Lahore: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has clarified her statement regarding Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s choice of clothing, stating that she did not imply that Maryam Nawaz avoids wearing branded clothes; rather, she now prefers simpler attire.
In a previous interview, the information minister had remarked, “Maryam Nawaz wears lawn shirts from smaller brands, yet she still looks stunning. She possesses impeccable fashion sense. Maryam Nawaz purchases lawn dresses worth Rs500, Rs600, or Rs800 available in the market. It’s not about the price or brand of the clothes; it’s about how someone carries themselves. I, myself, draw inspiration from her.”
However, during a recent television discussion, Bokhari clarified her stance, stating that she did not mean to suggest that the Chief Minister does not wear branded clothes but rather that she now opts for simpler attire. Bokhari emphasized that Maryam Nawaz is entitled to wear whatever she chooses.
Bokhari further added that during an Eid show, she had remarked that sometimes she feels she wears more expensive clothes than Maryam Nawaz.
It is worth noting that the information minister had previously discussed Maryam Nawaz’s inexpensive clothes on a TV show, and a video clip of her remarks had gone viral on social media.
