KARACHI: Assistant account officer of District Municipal Corporation (DMC) District Korangi is allegedly involved in corruption and recruiting illegally.

According to relevant sources, the Assistant Accounts Officer Absar is facing charges of serious offenses for the past four years including financial irregularities, allegations of illegal recruitment of his relatives, tampering bills, and collecting bribes in return of tenders.

In this regard, sources have revealed that the Anti-Corruption Establishment and the National Accountability Bureau have launched several investigations against him. However, due to the influence of the Assistant Account Officer, the inquires were stopped.

Sources further revealed that the influential Assistant Accounts Officer had made about 100 illegal recruitments in DMC Korangi. The Assistant Accounts Officer had also allegedly obstructed the payment of extra salaries to the employees.

Earlier, it was revealed that a close relative of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had been involved in distributing tenders in District Municipal Corporation (DMC) East to handpicked contractors.

Despite being a junior officer, Azhar Shah holds the posts of two different district local bodies in violation of the Supreme Court’s orders. He is working as an Additional Engineer (XEN) in DMC South, while a few months ago he was awarded the post of Superintendent Engineer in DMC East.
