In the present era, as the world has become a global village, promoting mutual understanding and tolerance among diverse religious beliefs has become more crucial than ever before.
As different ideological groups come closer to each other, mutual disagreements increase, and this leads to the emergence of Islamophobia and extremism fueled by the lack of mutual respect. This trend is alarming and needs to be addressed.
Recently, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had a telephonic conversation with the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and discussed various issues, including the blasphemy of the Holy Quran, which is an intolerable offense for any Muslim.
As Muslims, we respect all other religions, including Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism, and other beliefs. Pakistan can be presented as an example on a global level, where not only Muslims but also other minorities live fearlessly and securely.
It is essential that the followers of religious scriptures acknowledge the significance attributed to them by their respective communities and that they treat them with the respect they deserve. The Quran holds immense importance for Muslims worldwide as it is considered the divine word of God.
The Quran, which descended more than 1400 years ago on Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), is considered the final and ultimate source of inspiration and spiritual guidance for Muslims, promoting personal conduct, social justice, and spiritual strength. It not only provides spiritual solace but also offers healing.
From a young age, Muslims learn to respect the Holy Quran and recite it beautifully with reverence and fear of Allah. Sometimes, the recitation leaves such a profound impact on hearts that even non-Muslims come to believe in the authenticity of Islam.
It is probably the reason that the hearts of some Islamophobic elements have started to feel threatened by the greatness of the Holy Quran, leading them to become its enemies. Therefore, it is extremely crucial to promote knowledge and awareness about it worldwide.
Today, the Quran remains the most widely read book across the globe. To combat Islamophobia and the desecration of Islamic symbols, including the Holy Quran and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), a global campaign should be launched involving the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) and all member countries.
Wherever incidents of Islamophobia or disrespect towards Islamic symbols occur, all Muslim countries should unanimously boycott such events and refrain from purchasing products associated with them. This collective action can potentially put an end to such intolerable incidents, including the blasphemy of the Quran.
