RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Saddar Division SP Rai Mazhar Iqbal has said that the crime rate in the city has declined since the lockdown has been imposed due to the COVID-19.
Rai Mazhar Iqbal said that no crime has been reported in Rawalpindi since 24th March. The crime rate had begun declining after imposing the lockdown across Punjab, he said.
According to the data acquired by the police, the crime rate had already reduced by 70 to 80 percent before the lockdown. He added that the remaining 20 to 25 percent rate was visible after the lockdown.
Moreover, the crime rate in Karachi had decreased by 60 percent due to the lockdown imposed across Sindh. There were no complaints registered in the city regarding the motorcycles, cars and other valuables being robbed in the city.
A lockdown had been imposed across the country since March to combat the spread of the coronavirus, which has claimed 50 lives across Pakistan.
