Court again rejects Natasha Danish’s bail in drug use case

A sessions court has delivered its decision in the drug-related case against Natasha Danish, the suspect involved in the Karsaz car accident, rejecting her post-arrest bail application.

The ruling came after the court had reserved its judgment on the matter on Wednesday.

Natasha Danish had previously appealed the dismissal of her bail request by a judicial magistrate in the same drug case. Additional District and Sessions Judge (East) Shahid Ali Memon heard the arguments presented by her defense attorney, Aamir Mansoob Qureshi. The defense argued that the FIR was solely based on a chemical report, which indicated the presence of methamphetamine (commonly known as “ice”) in Natasha’s urine.

The lawyer further claimed that Natasha was being falsely implicated under outdated laws, and pointed out that current legislation lacks specific punishments for the consumption of ice.

Moreover, the defense emphasized that since Natasha was already facing charges under the Provincial Motor Vehicles Ordinance, only one case should be pursued for the incident.

However, state prosecutor Syed Khursheed Abbas Bukhari opposed the bail request, noting that the investigation was still ongoing, and the final charge sheet had not yet been submitted.

Earlier, on September 6, a settlement was reached with the families of the victims involved in the accident. The families submitted affidavits forgiving Natasha, stating that the accident was unintentional.

Following the settlement, the court granted her bail in the accident case after she posted a Rs100,000 surety bond. However, her bail request in the drug case has now been denied.
