KARACHI: Pakistan Coastguards continued their operations in Sindh and Balochistan and arrested ten people while millions worth of illegal substances were taken into custody.
In the past week, the coastguards continued their operation against illegal and smuggled products. The operation was conducted at Neko Khara checkpoint near Winder when a passenger coach comes to Karachi from Quetta was intercepted and 7.2 kilograms of ‘charas’ was found hidden under a seat.
In another operation, the coastguards conducted several search operations at Neko Khara and recovered 4,035 kilogrammes of smuggled clothes, 372 stacks of illegal foreign cigarettes, 128 packets of Indian gutka and other banned items.
During the third operation in Neko Khara, over 1,070 kilogrammes of betel nuts and 127 packets of gutka were recovered from a truck while the driver was taken into custody. Another operation was conducted at the Super Highway near Karachi where 7,574 kilogrammes of betel nuts were seized from a truck and two people were arrested.
In another raid, around 13,900 litres of Iranian diesel was found from seven HiLux vehicles when a coastguard mobile was on patrolling near Jiwani town of Balochistan. Seven people have been arrested. All the seized items have been taken into custody while legal action will be taken against the ten arrested people.
