KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced a judicial probe into the death of medical student Nosheen Kazmi, who was founder dead in her hostel room at Larkana’s Chandka Medical College under mysterious circumstances.
The chief minister expressed grief over the medical student’s death. said that the provincial government stood with the bereaved family. He announced to conduct a probe into the incident as per her heirs’ will.
CM Murad assured that the government would extend full cooperation the deceased student’s family wanted any other institution other than the police to conduct the investigation.
The body of fourth-year MBBS student Nosheen Kazmi was found in a girl’s hostel room on November 24 in mysterious conditions with a rope around her neck in the hostel room. Police officials said that they found a suicide note from the scene.
The registrar of the medical university, in a letter to the Universities and Boards Department Sindh, called for a judicial inquiry into the mysterious death by a district and sessions judge to determine the cause of death. He said the civil society has vehemently protested over the student’s death and the situation poses a security threat to the university.
The initial post-mortem report revealed that Nosheen’s death was caused due to hanging. The victim’s initial post-mortem report also found no marks of violence on the body.
Nosheen Kazmi’s father objected to the post-mortem report and blamed the entire incident on the university administration, saying his daughter cannot commit suicide. A fact-finding team committee team comprising five people will furnish the final report on the student’s death.
Chandka Medical College principal Prof Dr Gulzar Sheikh had said that the institution was fully cooperating with the family and police in probing the alleged suicide of Nosheen Kazmi.
He said the victim’s family was allowed to meet their daughter’s roommates to give them an insight into the events that led to the unfortunate incident. He further said that police was also investigating the matter while the college has also constituted an inquiry committee.
