ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar on Wednesday buried all false rumours and clarified that Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh will continue working as Finance Advisor.
While talking to the media reporters, the federal minister that he is not aware that Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Syed Shabbar Zaidi is displeased with the government. The FBR chairman is sick according to my information, Asad Umar said.
He further added that being satisfied with current circumstances and with work are two different things. “The situation is undoubtedly difficult at present but steps are being taken in right direction to end inflation and situation will improve,” he concluded.
Asad Umar said that Shabbar Zaidi was unwell. The statement comes after Zaidi’s resignation circulated leading to speculation that he might be forced to step down.
Zaidi has himself denied the rumours surrounding his resignation, claiming that he was unable to perform his duties due to health issues.
Speaking to media, he said, “I have not withdrawn from my position as Chairman of the FBR. I am just unable to perform my duties due to various health issues.”
According to Chairman FBR, he made two prolonged leaves during the chairmanship including the last one on 31st January. He has been advised to rest and reduce stress.
