Namibian cricketer Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton achieved a remarkable feat by scoring the fastest century in Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket.
He broke Nepal’s Kushal Malla’s previous record by hitting his century in just 33 balls during a match against Nepal on Tuesday.
This match was part of a series that also included the Netherlands. Loftie-Eaton’s incredible innings included 11 boundaries and 8 sixes, helping Namibia reach a total of 206/4 in 20 overs.
It’s worth noting that Loftie-Eaton’s total of 92 runs from boundaries is the highest in T20I cricket history. Despite Malan Kruger’s contribution of 59 runs off 48 balls, it was Loftie-Eaton’s quick runs that set a challenging target for Nepal.
Although Nepal’s Rohit Paudel scored 42 runs and Malla scored 32, they couldn’t chase Namibia’s total and fell short by 20 runs.
Namibia’s bowlers, led by Ruben Trumpelmann with 4 wickets for 29 runs, ensured Nepal couldn’t catch up. Bernard Scholtz, Jan Frylinck, and Loftie-Eaton also took 2 wickets each, securing Namibia’s victory.
