ISLAMABAD: The federal government today (Sunday) has lowered the prices of petroleum products, bringing down the price of petrol by Rs1.71 per litre.
According to a notification issued by the Finance Ministry, the per-litre prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) were reduced by Rs1.71 and Rs1.79, respectively.
The new per-litre prices of petrol and HSD were Rs100.69 and Rs101.43, respectively. The prices were lowered for the next 15 days as per the new policy of the incumbent government and would come into force from November 16.
Kerosene oil and light diesel oil (LDO), on the other hand, were maintained at prices of Rs65.29 and Rs62.86 a litre, respectively.
It is worth mentioning here that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) had earlier recommended the federal government to lower fuel prices in the country by upto Rs 3 per litre.
Earlier on October 31, the government announced a reduction of Rs1.57 per litre in the price of petrol for the next 15 days. The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) decreased by Rs0.84 per litre while the prices of kerosene oil and light diesel will remain unchanged.
