ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan will be held today with the participation of top leadership of the four provinces and federal ministers.
The meeting of the Council of Common Interests, chaired by the prime minister, will be held at the PM’s House at 4 pm today. According to details, PM Imran Khan will preside over a meeting of the Council of Common Interests today, which will be attended by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.
In addition to the chief ministers of the four provinces, federal ministers will also attend the meeting of the Council of Common Interests, while the release of the results of the census was discussed at the last meeting. Punjab and KPK insisted that the census results be released.

At the last meeting of the Council of Common Interests, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah demanded that the issue of release of census results should be linked to the new census. The Council of Common Interests later approved the results of the 2017 census.
According to the results of the last census 2017, the population of Pakistan is 207.7 million. Two months ago, the meeting of the Council of Common Interests also discussed the running of the Higher Education Commission after the 18th amendment.
Later, a statement was issued by the Council of Common Interests chaired by PM Imran Khan. The committee of ministers constituted on 11th February 2020 also presented its report on the census in the meeting. The Council of Common Interests approved the results of the 2017 census.
Earlier, the results of the 2017 census were declared controversial by several political parties, including the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the PTI, but the results were released on 13th April last month.
