NEW DELHI: India’s top investigation agency Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has interrogated two key witnesses in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.
According to reports, Sushant’s friend Siddharth Pithani and a staff member of the actor were questioned by the CBI early on Sunday morning.
Reports further disclosed that Sushant’s cook Neeraj was also summoned for the third consecutive day on Sunday for interrogation. Siddharth and Neeraj reached at DRDO guest house at 9: 00 am today, where the CBI team is present.
According to Indian media reports, the CBI interrogating team finds cook Neeraj and Siddharth statements contradicting.
Siddharth, also described as ‘creative manager’ was Sushant’s flatmate and he is believed to be the first person who saw the actor’s body on the day he committed suicide.
Earlier, Indian top court had ordered the CBI probe into the death of Sushant. According to Indian media, the Supreme Court rejected actor Rhea Chakraborty’s petition to transfer the investigation from Patna to Mumbai in Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case.
The court remarked that the Bihar government was competent to give consent to CBI for probing into the Patna FIR. The CBI has begun its probe on Friday.
Indian actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra residence in Mumbai on June 14.
Indian police had confirmed that Sushant committed suicide, as he was found hanging from the ceiling. The 34-year-old actor was living alone at his residence in Mumbai during the lockdown, according to police.
Indian media citing police said that Singh was suffering from depression for the past six months. Born in Bihar’s Purnea, Rajput’s family moved to Patna when he was young. Later, he came to Delhi to study engineering but left the course mid-way to work in the showbiz.
Ekta Kapoor gave him the first break in TV in the show Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, and then the led role in Pavitra Rishta. Sushant started his career through television and then moved towards Bollywood. His recent hit film was MS Dhoni.
